Carbon Spinnaker Pole - 09/10/18 12:55 PM

Snapped our carbon pole on a beam reaching on a distance race this weekend. If anyone is parting out there boat and is interested in selling their pole, please let me know. Thanks.

Carbon pole with no bridle always worried me so went back to aluminum. Linked to photos on Spinsheet.

So does that mean you have a carbon pole you want to sell me Bob? Actually, it did not break because of the center point connection for topper and guy, it broke as a result of surfing down a wave causing the spinnaker to collapse. When it filled, the pressure pulled the topping lift out of the cleat on the mast and dropped the pole, slamming it into the headstay in about 25 knots on a beam reach. It also sheared off my outboard lifeline stanchion. The issue was not the center point. Issue was that I either need two cleats for the topper, or I need to run it back to a cleat on the deck and not have faith that one cleat on the mast will hold. Oh well. Lesson learned. I also could have taken the sail down about 15 minutes earlier...but we were having too much fun going 10+ sustained with a top speed of 12.9!

Sorry for the loss but kudos on the win. Unfortunately we sold the carbon pole years ago. A search through the forum shows Rhapsody link that is still live at Defender on sale for $1,002.31 with Forespar ends. Probably similar quote from APS. The only problem is timing and shipping. Looks like Forte is in CT.

We and Shamrock bought one from the link above. Decent deal during boat show this week with defender. Picked it up on my drive through CT this past weekend at forte to save the shipping costs. Nice looking pole.
