My Wednesday 8-27 track shows clearly the advantage of tacking on to the headed tack of a persistent shift rather than the Great Circle of the lifted tack.
Search Conundrum on Raceqs.com and see for yourself. we went from 1st to worst. 30sec ahead to 3:30 behind. Speed was fairly equal. Distance was a difference of 1000m.
Match boat is Kerns Turn, a Cat320. We shoulda smoked em upwind.
