Dennis Bartley to serve as Chief Judge at J/30 North Americans
Dennis Bartley BIO
I’m a sailor originally from the great south side of Chicago… genetically a White Sox fan, and Bears (of course). I have 2 children, Brian and Megan… both better racers than I. I do have a wee bit of gray hair. Planxty is the J/30 I have owned since 1986. We have competed in J/30 North Americans traveling to wonderful places like Annapolis, Newport Ri., Long Island sound, and of course New Orleans. We still race her here in Chicago, though the J/30 fleet has dwindled. PHRF is a necessary evil.
I have been a US Sailing judge for a very long time, and national level (or equivalent) for the last 20 years.
My fave places in New Orleans are Tippetinas on Cajun nights, Dragos for grilled oysters, and Pat O’Brians for their fruit drink.
Musically, I rather enjoy country… from another country, folk, and some jazz. I do attempt to play several instruments, all with strings and frets. These days I’m retired, but I had been a programmer. I can speak 20 languages, all non-natural.
