So OK .. for some of us with the later series boats we were stuck with this monster stove, and a gas locker and a gas tank ... which most of us have taken out of the boat.

But these stoves are 30 years old ... this one is a Tasco.

When 526 was sold, the new owner didn't want the stove ... so I had this nice SS stove ... which was too good to trash ... Harbor Freight had a nice cart and the stove fit well.

However the thermostat was blown and when I connected it ... it was stove flambé with 8 in. flames from a blown gasket on the thermostat.

Talked to Tasco ... they had 3 thermostats left. now 2. the supplier that made the original isn't making them anymore.

so ok ... I'm waiting for a hurricane to be able to bake meatloaf. duh. But it is the perfect mountain camp stove. Great for baking potatoes, which as you all know is better than boiling them.

By the way this is my second camp stove ... having done this same conversion with the stove from #505.

Presumably the new owner of the boat has lifetime rights to call into Newport and use the donated oven????

Michael,

I would expect that the new owner would want the meal cooked in the oven and served to him while in Newport!

I don't know. Vic sold his boat to an Irish guy and then posts an oven full of potatoes. Something wrong with that picture.

I also gave him the table. Can't wait to see what he's going to do with that!

Wait ... that table went to the surveyor, who said the stove wouldn't be a good idea on that boat as it would take up the space where the life preservers were stored within 5 seconds of the cockpit.

Wait again ... prior owner in this case has granddad from just outside of Dublin ... which as we all know translates to about a 30 mile donkey cart ride outside.
