Anyone replaced a fuel tank inspection port gasket. Mine is 40+ years old and as hard as a rock. The gasket appears to be a 6" circle.

I am willing to make a gasket if any has recommendations on type of fuel resistant rubber.

Calling all engineers in the J/30 world for advice.

nitrile rubber sheet?
1/16 of an inch?

You nailed it Dave. Nitrile rubber (NBR), also known as Buna-N.
1/16" should be good.

I picked up Buna-B. Made a gasket.

What material would you recommend sealing the screws? Permatex?

Thanks Bill!

Yes - use Permatex High Performance Sealant with PTFE (Teflon).
