I was told that fresh water cooled Yanmar 2gmf's do not need zincs because the seawater manifold is isolated from the fresh water system that cirulates inside the engine block. A Yanmar service yard told be this so I suppose this is accurate information. I also do not see any place on the 2gmf engine block for a zinc.

Should I believe the yard on this one? Any 2gmf owner's out there?

I am not familiar with the 2gm engine .On the 2QM engine the zincs are at the rear part of the engine head and look like pipe plugs

Clint, I don't have my manual here at the office, but I believe the 2QM has 2 zincs, one for the head and the other for the block. IIRC, one is on the front of the engine, and the other on the back.
