I've included a shot of the cut out floor in the head area. As it turns out, I won't be doing any re-coring from inside here since I can't get enough margin around the edges to tie in a new inner laminate. This will all be done from the outside.

 

That said, I am glad that I got this open as I discovered that there is no drainage from the front to the bilge since its solid glass under the mast step. The hull just forward of the mast step had some nasty stuff accumulated - presumably toilet waste from a leak from the holding tank. The boat smelled 'not so fresh' when I bought it, but once I got under the floor up here it was clear that this area had become an 'accidental marine compost'. It was truly nasty once I opened it up. Thanks to Clorox Cleanup, the forepeak shouldn't be a cholera vector any longer.

 

Did I mention that its not wise to go looking for trouble?
