On my blog I posted a photo of the fuel filter installation similar to your approach. I had to bring the filter inlet hose up thru the center as the stairs would pinch off the hose. My filter is a little higher to gain the 2 inches for easier replacement. The blog post also shows the mounts on Nordic Star. They look alot like the DF-2205-2 Engine Mount.
