Kidding aside, You are going to have to take the winches apart to get them off the boat as you will have to take the drums off to get at the deck bolts.
if you've got or will have the winches off, all you need is an oil drain pan or a bucket,some kerosene, an old paint bruch and a rag to clean the winches. Two palls, two pall spings, two bearings and depending on the size, a couple of gears to clean. Do one at a time so the parts don't get mixed up. Once clean, it's five minutes to grease them up and put the gears, palls and pall springs back on. You can watch a football game on tv and clean the winches during th commercials and be done by half time.
It's either that or end up having the marina give them to their least skilled yard hand that will put the palls in backwards etc.
PS. Stop at West Marine and buy a handful of pall springs before you start. In fact, if the winches are dry buy 12 and replace them all
