J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Forestay length to be explained ... again?

Today measured from "measurement point" [figure 1 above] to center pin on stemhead ... pretty close to 2.5 inches. The new forestay is 35' 9" ~maxed out at turnbuckle [center pin to center pin].

With the sheer line 2.5 in. to center pin, it looks like we have this covered. Will measure, as recommended, to the top edge of the swage on the turnbuckle and store that number as the base line.

Always good to know how long things are before we send someone up the mast. I have no idea how long the original unit is as we never measured it since 1985 when it came off #327.
