I have Emailed Rod Johnstone on your change and he feels that in no way does it effect the "one design" performance of the boat.
I would like to point out this quote ... which basically relates to One Design PERFORMANCE. I have a feeling that we are confusing One Design PERFORMANCE oftentimes with One Design APPEARANCE. We have so many rules on what has to be on the boat just to "equalize" that we are forcing more and more people to abandon hope of ever racing OD. and as the existing fleet shrinks ... it only makes it harder to race strict OD as parts on the existing boats out of OD service disappear.
80% of any racing advantage is simply crew skill levels.
