Perhaps it was a good thing that boats didn't come down from Milwaukee and Muskegan. It blew a whole gale on the lake starting on Thursday evening through Friday. winds to 35 knots with > 10 ft. seas would have been a treacherous passage.
Being the only J/30, we ended up in an ORR section with J/35s, Shock 35, C&C 135, Farr 40 one toner, Sabre 34, and a J/27. Not exactly an ideal group, but it was at least interesting.
Friday's racing was prudently cancelled. I'm sure the coasties didn't want to do any rescues in those conditions.
Saturday wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. Seas were down to a manageable 4', winds in the mid to upper teens, increasing during the day. We managed a 3, 4, 3... only the J/35s beating us consistently.
Sunday should be a much different day with lightish SW winds. Not exactly our forte.
