We have 2 J30s in Muskegon, I know of one maybe 2 in Grand Haven and I think at least one in Holland. I looked up Yacht Scoring for Holland this year and see a J29 there as well.
As far as racing One Design for J30, there isn't much OD racing anymore. There are several still in Chicago, but most of us on the west side of Michigan don't go down for the Verve or NOOD regattas in Chicago anymore. We used to have our own start there, but numbers fell and we went to a PHRF division. That wasn't that much fun.
There was a push for a J30/S2 9.1 level Lake Michigan fleet, but that fizzled as well.
There are some good cross-lake races that many do, such as the Clipper Cup from Muskegon to Port Washington Wisconsin. The Tripp/Queens Cup to Milwaukee then to Muskegon (this year- it changes ports every year)
There is a J30 that is for sale in Holland, currently in Muskegon barn and the owner has seen this thread and I've texed him. I'll let him chime in about deatils.
