Thanks Bill
I thought it would be for the spinnaker as the block was small for the genoa load.
The picture (and your site ) has been of great help as there are no J30's in the neighbourhood and the former owner is in the hospital
I still have two other ongoing problems (you will see I am very green..former boat was a C&C24)
1) there is a fuel leak somewhere. When the boat arrived From Ct to Montreal by ground transport, there was 2" of pink oily liquid in the bilge....deisel fuel? (up here it is not pink) I cleaned it up but trace amounts continued to collect so I placed paper towels at various point to see what the path was.
First, the tank is full to max, guage read more than full and the fuel line was in the open position. The towels continue to be wet at the mouth of the 1" hose that comes from the sern of the bilge....mostly clear oily liquid ?/ also wet at the bottom-aft-interior corner (against the seette)very pink.
Could fuel have spilled out the overflow during the 85 degree heat wave during the transport? Collected under the tank and is now sloshing aft as the boat rolls through waves? I hope there is not a leak in the tank!
Where does that 1" diameter hose that ends at the aft of the bilge lead to? I did not find the other end. Is the clear liquid transmissionn fuild?
2) I cannot get the nav instuments to work. The batteries are connected and all the other electics (water pump, cabin lights, running lights) work,...but not the depth and speed. I have checked / replaced the fuses, checked the connections at the mast base, but still no luck

Thanks for any help you can offer
Wish me luck
