I've been considering replacing my halyard winches, and I would like to stay compliant with the class rules. My boat came with 2-speed self-tailing winches made by Enkes, which I know aren't legal. I don't mind giving up 2 speeds for class compliance, but I really don't want to give up the self-tailer.
The approved list includes the original Barient 10, Lewmar 8, Lewmar 7, and Harken B8. But I don't see any of these as having a self-tailing option! I've found a company called Winchmate that sells self-tailing conversion kits for Barient winches, but not for that size.
Are there no class-legal options for self-tailing halyard winches?
