I think that VC-17 isn't wildly different from Baltoplate, in terms of coverage. With cool, no n windy weather, (both a must) I can easily get two coats of baltoplate rolled onto the boat from a gallon and have a measurable amount left over. (Close to enough for a third coat, I expect) Prep is your friend, if you roll, and you want to find very dense, smooth foam rollers, roll quickly, but carefully, and expect to go through a fair number of rollers. (I don't recommend anything with a nap on it, hard, slightly absorbant foam seems the way to go) Home Despot sells some nice "trim" rollers, about six inches across, about 1 inch diameter, which work pretty well for this.
