J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment 1984 and newer vs 1983 and older

I'm in the market for a J30 and I'd like some feedback on the two different designs. I understand the deck layout is different, but is the hull quality different? Is the 1979-1983 more prone to blistering? Any other opinions or insights would be appreciated.
