Bill on Mallorca we have a cam cleat on the mast - this works amazing. The line is long enough to put the pole on the deck - we have a piece of velcro that keeps on the stay when not in use. We put a stopper ball on the end so that it is easy to grab and hoist the pole. We no longer run it back to the cockpit.
