I received quotes from the two class approved sources for a new rudder. They offer options that include the following:
  • Lay-up in epoxy resin: (Standard is Vinyl ester resin)
  • High density foam core: (solid core of alternating grain Mahogany)
  • Exterior Carbon fiber skin
Any reason why I would want these options? I know the core will be isolated from the start, so should not have water infiltration issues.

I'll end up patching the existing water-logged, core soaked, broken rudder to hold me until the new rudder arrives.
