whitedolphin-with the spring loaded loos gage and a set of North sails, I start with a base of about 1700/1700. If chop is up, in base conditions (10-12) I'll keep the outers at 1700 and slack the inners to about 1500 to give more punch to the rig. 0-5 I go off the scale at the low end-I shoot for about 700 outers, 500 inners-but it's hard to tell. 5-7, 1100 outers, 850 inners. 7-10, 1500 outers, 1200 inners. 12-15 1900/1900 (again, if chop is up, I go a little softer on the inners), 15-18 2000/2000, 18 plus 2100/2100, plus a taut backstay and about 5 turns in on the headstay. I'm not sure whether this matches the North tuning guide-but the trend has been to lighter settings across the spectrum since many of the tuning guides were written. And remember-if your mast butt is not EXACTLY one inch back from the step in the cabin sole in the head-all the tuning guides will be useless.
