J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Waterline painting

Hey all,
Preparing to haul out and repaint the hull on Slingshot. Planning to do all of the work myself in a yard nearby.

Does anyone have any good tricks for determining where the waterline sits?

So OK .. never let the real waterline get in your way.

on 3 J/30s I've had, I ended up running the bottom paint higher just to keep the hull looking cleaner.

Depends a bit on how scummy the water is where you are.

But on the other hand ... if you're loaded with cruising stuff ... or 1400 lbs of crew sitting in the cockpit.
