Kidding aside, what about having the Association buy it to make it available for National events?

Fair point, Russ. Personally owning or alternatively having access to a class trailer would make it more likely for myself and others to travel. Would need to maintain and store it when idle which would be most of the time for me. I don't have any place to put it, so annual cost of storage would likely exceed the initial investment. Also would need a tow vehicle, though I get the impression it's becoming easier get truckers to bid on pulling the rig than it is to find someone with the correct vehicle and trailer.

I was kidding. When I bought a trailer, indeed the bigger cost was the vehicle. Fortunately, timing was right, it was time to replace a car so the cost of a tow vehicle was incremental to replacing needed transportation (business car allowance helped). I have a Nissan Armada that though it might seem surprising, pulls the boat just fine up and over the mountains

Thinking out loud as to ways to increase one design event participation - Some time ago, Bill Kneller talked about buying a J/30 fixer upper so the class would have a loaner boat. Seems a trailer would have shared benifits if owned by the class
