Has there been a change in the J30 handicap rating?
Here in Canada the new 2015 Slvyra rating has changed from 135 (1.057) to 137 (1.065)
Have the ratings changed in the US?
Taras

Taras - the PHRF ratings of various areas are listed on the main menu under "Info" then click on PHRF Rating. I'm not aware of any PHRF changes in the Narragansett Bay area.

Reaching out to the Canadian J30's
What is the base handicap in your region
SLVYRA is rating the J30 at base 138 - 9 = 129
They support this by saying this is the J30 rating in the PHRF-Northwest rating with 21 J30 boats

Bill,...can you substantiate if this is this the rating in the Northwest?

Thanks
Taras

Taras,

The info posted was obtained from various PHRF websites. Best for you to contact PHRF NW directly if you want a conclusive answer.

In PHRF BC They base rate the yacht at 145 and then punish it for all oversize sails meaning the OD rating of the boat is 139. I sail with a Code 6 main and a smaller 153 #1 at 139. I plan to up my spinnaker size by 3 feet on the hoist to be 136 and get more downwind power.

When I bump across the ditch and race PHRF NW, I lose 1 second to 138. I can confirm that is the OD rating for NW.
