I'm looking for replacement 12 volt bulbs used in the original J/30 cabin lights. The ones I have are 5/8" diameter bayonet base having two contacts. The bulb is ~ 2 1/8" tall with a built in reflector ~2" in diameter on the face. There is a number barely legible on the base that looks like T36?6. I've done some google searches and looked at West Marine with no luck. Anyone know what the part number is and where I can get replacements?

Tnx for the info on the MR16 bulbs. Do you have any experience on the impact of current drain on the battery? Looks like the MR16 is available in 20W version that would equate to ~1.7amp draw. Not sure how that compares with the original bulbs. I assume the flood would be best for the cabin configuration, as I'm not trying to illuminate any paintings :-)

I have been thinking of replacing all of my bulbs with LED's. http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm They consume something like 30ma vs 1-3 amps each. The LEDs are brighter, last longer and consume much less power.

I have tried the LEDs from superbrightleds.com. I wouldn't buy them again. They are not nearly as bright as the original bulbs. I have 2 of them in the boat and basically just use them for "mood" lighting. You can't even read under them. I tried both bulbs (12 and 19 leds).
My 2 cents.
