She's balsa cored composite throughout. The wet wood you see is the core. The extent of work is going to depend on how far the water got and the condition of the core. I had to repair a bad "repair" of the exact thing. The water penetration was extensive, all the way to the keel. However, the core was good except for a two square foot section. I'm still drying some sections of the hull, even though we're using her. Holes drilled into the core from inside on 4" centers works; you just need to be patient! It's A LOT easier than recoring, which I decided was impracticle for the 50 sq ft of wet hull with good core.
