I was wondering about the similar boats out there, there are really only a small handfull.

S2 9.2 comes to mind or the 28 Laser . both different boats with advantages and definitely dissadvantages...

I think I know the reason for not having more fast enough for fun and room enough for extended weekend, cruising boats.

They would be very expensive today and still wouldnt offer the cavernous expansions of CatBeneHunters.... Most people who shell out a lot of money want ROOM, showers hot water airconditioning and for sure a real big sun shade ...lol

If you would put the J 30 next to one of those newer plastic fantastics than the admiral ( woman ) will most likely pick the big "living" room. You really do not want to be in one of them while sailing, nothing to lean or hold on to ! lol besides ...lol

The J 30 is an awesome boat. Priced right for what you get, sails like a dream , you can go really fast and scare yourself to death, or sale safe ( reef ) and sale under conditions most other boats just barely stay alive. As the helmsman you can reach everything you need, without jumping all around and so forth ...

go for it , you wont be dissapointed.

besides its a J !!!

Be careful what you say Thor...some of those "admirals" happen to own J30s too...
