Does anyone know what the torque specs are for the banjo fittings with the brass washers are for the fuel system on a 2GM engin. I managed to pull out a heilcoil with a 1/4" ratchet when I was chasing an air leak.

Every time the banjo bolts are loosened, use a new copper washer on each side of the banjo. Torque the banjo bolts 9-12 ft lb on M8 and 18-25 ft lb on M12 bolt joints.

Banjo fittings are used to connect fluid lines. If you look on page 11 of my Yanmar rebuild presentation at this link http://j30.us/files/Rhapsody_Yanmar_Rebuild_Winter_2006-2007.pdf you'll see the banjo fittings "floating" where the 2 micron Yanmar fuel filter was removed. The fittings have a hollow bolt (except not drilled through hex head) pass through them. The bolt has a hole drilled perpendicular through the hollow core so fuel can pass. The flat surfaces on either side of the banjo are compressed by the hollow bolt and the copper washers make a seal. Fuel flows through the tube, around the inside radius of the banjo, and through the hollow bolt. This permits an air tight connection good for vacuum or pressure.
