From the ORC regulations:
3.14.6 Lifeline minimum diameters, required materials,
specifications
a) Lifelines shall be stranded stainless steel wire of minimum
diameter in table 8 below. Lifelines installed from 1/99 shall be
uncoated and used without close-fitting sleeving.
**
Notwithstanding 3.14.6 (a) above, temporary sleeving may be
fitted provided it is regularly removed for inspection
**
b) Grade 316 stainless wire is recommended. **

Good point.

From the class rules: "The equipment specified in the ORC Minimum Equipment and Accommodations Standards, Category 4 shall be carried on board except where those standards conflict with these rules."

Do the class rules address the safety requirements of ISAF/ORC Cat 4 in all other regards? Skimming through the latter quickly, it seemed there might be other requirements (cockpit knife?) that are not in the rules. Anyway, it might be worth including the ISAF/ORC reference in the NOR for class events too.
