Anyone with a boat weight have draft stripes? Had them when I got hull #62 and she was just on them. She's hevier now, but I've covered the stripes, so I don't know. Also don't know if they were correctly placed. I'll try to put them back on in the right place this winter.

the previous owners removed the rope clutches and filled the holes--problem was that the patched holes leaked. One leaked right into the sink(was that planned!)I redrilled them and filled them with marinetex. but the real question is "why is my boat so heavy" maybe I will reweigh this fall and next spring.

My boat was lifted by a crane onto a cradle today. The crane's load cell measured the weight at 7,300 pounds. The accuracy was probably plus/minus a hundred or two pounds so perhaps the boat is actually a touch lighter. Note that she was lifted without a mast/sails/cushions/sheets/eletronics/and all other gear removed. This is a bit surprising because I thought it would have weighed less fully striped out. I've always expected my boat to be on the light side. I don't have floatation marks, but maybe I'll add them for interests sake next season. My big concern with weight was for trailering and it sure looks like a 6,000 and even a 7,000 pound capacity trailer is out of the question.

REGARDING TRAILERS-- i HAVE TOWED TOWED MY J-30 A FEW HUNDRED MILES WITH MY TWO AXLE TRAILER ON A HOT DAY. I HAVE USED THE SAME TRAILER TO TOW A 7000# CATALINA 27 A THOUSAND MILES ON A HOT DAY. THE E-Z LOADER TRAILER AND THE BOATS TOGETHER WEIGH AROUND 12,000# TO 13,000#. THE TIRES DO GET WARM TO TOUCH, PROBABLY 120 DEGREES. MY TRAILER IS RATED AT 75,000 TO 8,000 # BUT I AM CONSIDERING GETTING A THREE AXLE TRAILER.

JUDICIOUS HULL #10 was weight for IRC handicap in UK using Royal Ocean Racing Clubs calibrated load cell. This weight included batteries and cushions but excluded sails and any ropes not actually attached to the rig.
The weight came out at 3285Kilogrammes which if i have done my conversions right equals 7227lbs. The boat is out of the water every winter and is not waterlogged etc.

We are competetive under IRC having won our class in Cork regatta (Ireland) a couple of years ago.
