Agreed....it seems anything over $ 25K is slow to move.

Charlie Stoddard sent me the ebay link for this. This boat is literally in my back yard - at the marina around the corner from where I live. It's been on the hard since 2002 and needs some TLC. Anyone interested in a second J/30 as a project or parts? Bids close 11 Nov 5pm EST.

Well Nemesis, Falcon & Rhapsody teamed up but got outbid on eBay to buy KAOS. I stopped by at lunch time Weds and snapped a few pictures. They are shared on my Picasa album with a select few here.

Brand new 3/4" shaft, but no prop

TSP number stamped on transom with spider web cracks indicate the transom is saturated and need to be recored

Open holes on aft cabin require recore work there. The companionway cover has about 3/4" gap with hatch boards allowing rain to enter the cabin. Significant water damage occured inside.

Standing water on teak deck. Water line evident inside up to settee level. A 2" hole has been drilled through hull in bilge sump to drain boat. The teak looks like it would need to be ripped out.

The rig looked ok, as did spars. There was a Hall quick vang below decks. It doesn't appear this boat has the spreader bar fix.

The culprit for wet core - there is a visible gap in the engine exhaust through hull. Evidence of wet core on stbd side below waterline, transom, and stbd side just fwd of transom to the deck level.

Stbd aft spider line cracks indicate wet core froze.

Stbd aft looking forward. Note that core has been crushed and the hull is deformed where the boat has been resting on the poppet.

That propshaft is worth more than the whole boat.

I stopped in and saw the boat in Portsmouth on Saturday and the extensive interior damage and obviously rotten core would lead me to agree with Dave. It could probably be fixed up to fighting shape but would wind up being more expensive than buying a 30 in better shape.

If the spar is in good shape that might be worth something as well.
