Below are listings of J/30s that are advertised through brokerages or other sources. If you run across a boat that is sold, or find one not listed in the J/30 Marketplace, please contact the moderator. This list will be kept current as long as people provide information.
"Rattle & Hum" hull 124 in Halifax, NS - Kijiji (broken link) owner Jason Penney
The two Annapolis boats no respect and Sea Biscuit are past J/30 NA winners and have been well maintained. no respect is original owner and still racing competitively. Sea Biscuit is just down the dock and setup for cruising with a removable mast track and roller furling. Funny, I spoke to the owner who was RC for our race Sunday and he never mentioned it was for sale. I would hate to see either of these boats leave Annapolis.
Bumped to move above "Sold" boats. Updated list above, although some of the Craig's list links have expired.
Bob - both Sea Biscuit and no respect have sold. The new owner for no respect has been contacted via email - the boat has moved to Maine. If you get a chance to speak with Ron Peterson, see if you can get contact info for Sea Biscuit's new owner. I think my emails are going to his spam folder.
Charlie Stoddard sent me the ebay link for this. This boat is literally in my back yard - at the marina around the corner from where I live. It's been on the hard since 2002 and needs some TLC. Anyone interested in a second J/30 as a project or parts? Bids close 11 Nov 5pm EST.
Well Nemesis, Falcon & Rhapsody teamed up but got outbid on eBay to buy KAOS. I stopped by at lunch time Weds and snapped a few pictures. They are shared on my Picasa album with a select few here.
Brand new 3/4" shaft, but no prop
TSP number stamped on transom with spider web cracks indicate the transom is saturated and need to be recored
Open holes on aft cabin require recore work there. The companionway cover has about 3/4" gap with hatch boards allowing rain to enter the cabin. Significant water damage occured inside.
Standing water on teak deck. Water line evident inside up to settee level. A 2" hole has been drilled through hull in bilge sump to drain boat. The teak looks like it would need to be ripped out.
The rig looked ok, as did spars. There was a Hall quick vang below decks. It doesn't appear this boat has the spreader bar fix.
The culprit for wet core - there is a visible gap in the engine exhaust through hull. Evidence of wet core on stbd side below waterline, transom, and stbd side just fwd of transom to the deck level.
Stbd aft spider line cracks indicate wet core froze.
Stbd aft looking forward. Note that core has been crushed and the hull is deformed where the boat has been resting on the poppet.
I stopped in and saw the boat in Portsmouth on Saturday and the extensive interior damage and obviously rotten core would lead me to agree with Dave. It could probably be fixed up to fighting shape but would wind up being more expensive than buying a 30 in better shape.
If the spar is in good shape that might be worth something as well.
Arthur attended the SNE annual meeting last year and brought some pictures from his Sheila C. Bermuda trip. I raced the 2008 Newport-Bermuda with the Fat City and Smiles folks on Carl's Swan 391 "Fat City Too". A couple of guys who stayed behind for the delivery back met Arthur when he showed up in Bermuda the day after most of us flew home. Pretty amazing to single hand a J/30 Newport - Bermuda and back again!
I am looking for a trailer but don't know anything about them. I looked at the boat and trailer that Bob found on e-bay and then spoke with a trailer manufacturer (Loadmasters) to compare what new ones go for. I got a price of $6k for a new one. Is that a good price?
Regardless, the guy I talked to said that the boat cannot hang over the back of the trailer or one will get ticketed in most states. I mention that because the trailer on e-bay looks pretty short. Anybody have any input here?
Not sure the rules on eBay, but the original 'listing was ended ended by the seller because the item is no longer available' on the boat noted above. Then relisted with a reserve.
eBay, Scoundrel to June 27, 2011, starting at $12K US. Pics show original stoppers and hatches. A shot of the cockpit would have been nice, but all the interior photos show wood and cushions in good shape.
Shoot, the problems listed on the boat probably affect 80 percent of the fleet! Plan on new chainplates, I too had voids in the deck area around mine, and found them cracked nearly all of the way through. New plates, some epoxy for the deck voids, and she is good as new. Bottom looks really nice.
PRICE REDUCED FROM 9995 TO 5500 JUNE 22, 2012 Mojo is a time tested racer, but can go cruising too. Some sails replaced 10 years ago. Nice Interior. The knotmeter may not operate properly. The wind speed/direction does not operate. The hull core bottom has some moisture amidships. The transom core is water saturated and delaminated at the top, near the top gudgeon and the vent fitting, for two to three square feet. There is some small area of delamination in the fore deck, at the vent fitting. This is a lot of boat for the low asking price.
Kinesis late model hull #497 (corrected hull ID is probably TSP00497M84I, April 1984) in Salem MA, on eBay 'Buy it now' price is $19,550. One offer, presumably lower. Auction expires Aug 30, 2012.
Based on the answer to a question the boat appears to have been taken in trade from the previous owner who had it listed here on the Marketplace with a price reduction to $24,900 as of April 2012.

I just spoke to George the previous owner. He traded it as part os the deal for a powerboat. He and his wife loved the boat, but at 70 they found it a challenge to raise and lower the sails. He is sending me info on the broker who took it so we can follow-up to keep the class records up to date.
