J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Smack Maddies in Marblehead needs your help

So a lot of you have not been to Maddies YET (you will this summer though) but it has always been on the top 10 list of Sailing Bars around the world. It needs your help to stay high on the list. And when you get here for the NAs go have a couple (they pour like you did in highschool). This bar is one of the reasons first gun will be 12:30pm.

I've been to 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8. The Hong Kong club was when our submarine pulled in for a port call in 1978.

If you were in a submarine, the question is did they know you were there when you visited Hong Kong Harbor...or did you just visit it from periscope depth? ;-)

Joe - the real question is did I know where I was once we hit the bars in Hong Kong!

Actually, coming to periscope depth as we approached Hong Kong was one of the most harrowing experiences I had as officer of the deck. We cleared baffles and came to periscope depth in the middle of a fishing fleet with hundreds of junks drifting about. None had their engine on so we couldn't hear them. It was only by shear luck we didn't hit any before the periscope cleared the water.

Once in Hong Kong, we were definitely on the surface!

5,7,8,9, & 10. Been to Norman Island to dive, but not since Willy T opened. No recollection of IYAC Newport, though based on the location I don't know how I could have missed it.
