Good news: If I'm not mistaken,that propane box will hold more than 2 cases of canned beer - not sure how many bottles. For cruising it's a great beer storage box or, in your case, great second cooler.
Bad news: there's a reason the anchor locker is not in the bow of the boat. Similarly, there's a reason the cooler isn't in the stern. For racing purposes, you'd be better off throwing a cooler down below near the center of the boat rather than loading up the propane box.
