Cape Cod Canal at its "best"

Nothing like expecting a calm CCC transit ... but getting the full current running with you and 20+ knots of wind running against you. Wasn't too interesting here ... but just a couple of miles later at Hog Island Channel we encountered 4-5 ft waves 5 seconds apart. Breaking waves over bow unzipped Rhapsody's #1 and washed it overboard never to be seen again. Vee Jay looked for it ... as it would have fit on a Vee Jay, but didn't see it.

These were more challenging conditions than off shore as we had to stay in the channel.

Just another great memory from NA 2010.

J30s in the CCC about this time included: Blue Meanie, Rhapsody, Nemesis, and Vee Jay.

Rhapsody was through the canal before noon, so you hit the current at max ebb at about half past noon.

we had engine trouble in marblehead so didn't leave until 3:30a monday... ended up leaving the boat in mattapoisett where it's getting a little love before I bring it the rest of the way back on friday... the canal was interesting with an idling smoky engine and getting through with the main... good times.
