with a 163 or 155? that would have to be a big window to see traffic. especially if you are moving around the cockpit during a tack. it wouldn't be too much help during a start.
But they are now starting to make gennies with nearly clear plastic fabric.
Is it possible that the sail maker was talking about a round window for the bottom woolies? That's what my North guy calls it.
LET ME ADD ONE NOTE RE J24ers giving advice:
Take everything J24 sailors say with double grains of salt, unless of course they have raced on a J35. They will have you tacking on 5degree occillating windshifts, playing jumprope with the traveller, keeping the backstay adjustment in constant motion, and honking the vang down so tight it breaks the boom. But other than that I think they are good on foredeck. {the j24 crew on Sundance 20 years ago managed to break two booms and one pole in one season}
