The cable for the kill switch should have lots of room for an adjustment. My cable was frozen from salt water and corrosion. I ended up replacing the entire unit at a cost of roughly $28.00. It's an easy install with the toughest part freeing the nut directly behind the kill switch plunger back behind the instrument panel. I don't know if this is your problem but for $28.00 it's a cheap probable fix and if it doesn't do the trick, you'll at least have a back-up kill switch cable when you need it.
