Hey it is Dave, here promoting a couple of ideas for the future.

(1) What would it take to reward programs like Vic Farmer in Naples who do a really good job of training next generation sailors? I am thinking of a potential owner/skipper rule adjustment in the future. I know we have defined rights to helm for charters with market value. What about a modified rule to allow junior sailors who skipper a J/30 for a period of a year or more with 3 or more wins in a sailing season? Juniors do not typically have funds to charter as such no opportunity to helm. We need to encourage a newer generation of sailors in our sport.

(2) With regard to future North American Championship venues, how about awarding venues based on participation via "road trip" to NAs out of district. At this year's NAs we have participation from Eastern Great Lakes, Long Island Sound, Southern New England. We are a bit disappointed with the level of participation from Annapolis and Chicago. Funding of "road trip" teams may be the issue. Perhaps the duty of a local fleet might be to fund raise to help send a district qualifier to race in the annual North American Championships? I would vote for Eastern Great Lakes, Long Island Sound, Southern New England to be a future NA venue.

What is everyone's thoughts on the above ideas?
