J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Stanchion Weakness?

Hi all,

I've noticed some flex in one of my stanchions (starboard side, towards the bow, first stanchion back from the pulpit. It's possible to move the tip of the stanchion over a range of four or five inches, and the deck visibly flexes as this happens.

I'm thinking this is a sign of weakness in the hull/deck joint. How might I go about addressing it?
