So my plan with the strap is to put it over the boom exactly where the bail was and hold it in place passing each end through a loop that goes through the original bail bolt holes to keep it from wandering. I've started to tie soft shackles so I will be converting most of the metal shackles to the dyneema soft shackle. Stronger, lighter and no more rattling!
