Thanks for the test. I have neither material so appreciate you taking the time. Empirical data rules. Would you happen to have a chunk of g10 structural fiberglass or a 3/4" piece of marine ply or even regular plywood to torque on? i'd be interested in your subjective assessment of what torque can be achieved before deflection.
Dave, i have been following all your projects on this boat and have gotten a lot from you effort to document your journey.
I'm not trying to pick on you with my latest posts, i just hate to have you putting in extra work where you don't need to when you have so much to do. I think the clutches will hold just fine with bolts torqued to spec and with the new core and layup. Just think what the loads are like on a winch-- i would think the shock loads are much higher and the loads from some 250lb grinder refusing to use 2nd gear have to put the whole system under some serious strain. All that holds together as long no water gets to the core. And often without what some of us would consider proper backing plates. Maybe we are all overthinking the whole thing considering how many poor installations are out there and the lack of catastrophic failures.
