Hi all-
Just wanted to take a second to introduce myself. My name's Jeff. My wife and I just purchased a 1982 J/30 in Seattle (#426 - currently called "Still Crazy" but likely to change).
You may have seen some posts from me over the past few months as we've been looking at various boats and navigating the purchase process. I can't thank everyone enough for the help, insight, and experience shared. Moving forward, I hope to contribute at least as much as I've gained from the community's contributions.
A little background: I've sailed since I was about 6 mos old (I'm told) and raced for about 20 yrs up and down the west coast - everything from Tasars to Melges 24s, J/30s, 105s, 120s, Mumm 36, SC50/52s, etc. I spent a number of years racing on a J/30 here in Seattle and am really enjoying getting back on similar boat. They continue to be the best mix of performance and cruisability I've seen in a 30' boat yet. And, invariably, there are usually great people sailing them.
We hope to get out for weeknight racing over the summer, some of the major weekend events, and look forward to mixing it up with the J/30 pillars here in Seattle along with what appears to be a resurgence of other J/30s from around the northwest.
As I dive into the "to-do list", I'm sure you'll see some questions in the coming days.
Cheers,
- Jeff
