J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Replacing original 2GM with a 2YM15

I am considering having my old 2GM (from 1984) - still loyal, but rusty, smoky, a bit oily - replaced by a 2YM15 on FootLoose a 1984 model. By a mechanics, not me.
Anyone had done this already?
Is it a drop-in replacement - mostly? (I have the dimension diagram for the 2YM15 - but could not yet put my hand on the 2GM ones...so will measure by hand...)
Does it fit the original Kanzaki transmission?
Any notion of the price?
