I still have a operable hand bilge pump in the cockpit which is connected to the bilge by the large hose running through the engine compartment. I also desired to have a automatic electric bilge pump. I routed my electric bilge pump hose through the port setee then forward of the bulkhead. From there the hose made a loop up to the deck then back down to exit the port hull just below the gunwales. The loop hopefully keeps the water from siphoning in if capsized. the only criticizm is that when the pump shuts off, the backflow is about six ounces or so. I use the water witch type switch that has no moving parts- just two electrodes which close the circuit when water touches them.
