J/30 Class Association Forums J/30 Forum The Boat, Sails and Equipment Cutting Interior Wall/Bulkhead

Besides class rules, Does anyone know of a good reason why I can't modify the V-berth wall, shown in the picture, to give the V-berth more "space". It isn't a load bearing/ structural bulkhead. In fact it's rather flimsy.
