Hi,

My J/30 #270 has barient 10 winches as halyard winches. One of them failed over the weekend, and upon inspection, I found that the slot in which one of the upper pawls sits had been damaged (the tip holding the pawl in was chipped off) so that the pawl won't stay seated.

I spoke to someone at Oyster Bay Marine, and he said the drum isn't repairable or replaceable, and that I should buy a new winch.

First, does anyone know of a better solution?

Second, if not, does anyone have a recommendation as to a good replacement? It sure would be nice to find one that fit the existing bolt placement.

Thanks,

Rob Bjornson
