I have a big regatta next weekend and am still considering/procrastinating changing my halyards. My main and jib halyard is led aft to the cockpit. The p measurment is 38 feet I have been told 50 feet is the right length. My guess is about 53 feet for the main and about 60 feet for the jib. I would like the main halyard long enough so I can use it for a topping lift sometimes(when I am not sailing and do not want the boom flying around). Is this right. I estimate that I would want to strip the cover about 42 feet from the shackle so the line outside the base of the mast is covered. Please reply soon so I can get started.
Im looking at the vectran core -Yale crystalyne material from the APS catalog.
thanks a bunch
