I just heard from my buddy that the South Haven Yacht Club is founding a new regatta this summer, for One Designs ! They already have the S2 9.1's.

We would get our own start with any number of boats, no minimum.

When ?
July 10 & 11 ...when there is no known conflict on the schedule.

Would you Chicago J/30 guys like to come up to SH ? Would you Muskegon J/30's like to come down ? It is a nice spot in the middle of the shoreline for us to do battle, easier delivery for either party. Just a weekend regatta. Should be much easier than a regular 4 day regatta.

Place feedback here please. Thanks. I hope it flies. I would like to start doing regattas with you guys (I'm in Holland) but I am not yet to a place where I can can swing it with my young kids & my "race budget" at this time. But this is much easier.

To clarify:

First of all, I would like to confirm that your fleet, J30's, would be welcome to join the S2 9.1 One Design fleet for a regatta in South Haven in July. However, you would need to bring a minimum number of boats to have a fleet start. I am not sure what that number is, but 2 boats would not be a fleet.

Again, I commend and support you for trying to have a fleet race in South Haven in conjunction with our S2 9.1 fleet race. I just wanted to clarify your options to sail with us.

Although my skipper will be in the Land of Coleens, there is a good chance that PLANXTY can make the race. I've got a backup driver that is as good as the original and looks MUCH better in a bikini. I also spoke to Bernie from DEFIANT and he also will make a good effort to make the weekend. You can contact me through Admiral Bartley with the details.

That is terriffic news !! So we'd have 3 boats right there. I need to get in touch w/Ricochet. My wife & I used to crew for him in another life in Muskegon. That would be 4, and he just might be able to pull another 1 or 2 of our people down from Lake Paper Mill. It would be great to sail with 5 of us. Thanks. I will have to try to chase down Admiral Bartley.

The story I've heard is that "Planxty" means:

5 well hung Irish guys sailing a fast boat in the wrong direction.
