My engine stalls out above 1500 rpms.
I have two theories:
1) Clogged fuel filter; 2) A leak in the fuel line (I had a leak earlier which I corrected by tightening the nut attaching the fuel line to the engine)that starves the engine when I increase rpms.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Phil

Also might be a plugged exhaust elbow, though that usually happens after running for about 15 minutes regardless of rpm.

Rauzer II can go almost a full season before I start losing RPM while underway. I cruise at about 2500 and at some point it will start fluctuating between that and maybe 2100. Then after a while longer it will not run above 2000. I change the small filter mounted on the engine and all is well again. I think I need to clean the fuel tank and replace the fuel lines to ultimately solve the problem.

Cleaning and flushing the tank is a good idea. I used a drillpump and a filter funnel from West Marine. You can use brake clean to clean the filter. You can flush the area behind the baffle. The big Raycor filter should be catching most of the slime instead of it getting to the small filter.

Thanks for the input, I'm heading to the boat this weekend to see if i can solve the problem without the aid ($$$) of a mechanic.
