Larry,

Is there any reason why we shouldn't include this list as the official "interpretation" under 5.4.1.5 instead of
A list of approved replacement winches is available from the Class Measurer?

With the vote coming up on 24 March, it would be an easy item to incorporate.

Larry,
Harken has changed its product line, shifting to the "radial" drum, and the 42 and 44ST class-approved for primaries are no longer available in aluminum.
What Harken now sells are:

40 or 40ST 39.90:1 and 13.5:1
46 or 46ST 46.50:1 and 11.7:1

There are still some bronze or stainless 44STA's available, but they are very heavy and the price has gone through the roof, like $3,000++.

We need new primary winches, and Harken's look best. Are any of them class-legal??

Halsey - Charlie Stoddard is now the class measurer. The updated winch posting is at this link as a sticky in this class rules forum. Your point is valid on the changes in Harken Winch models. Charlie receives automatic notification of anything posted in this forum, so should research it and reply back by here, and as appropriate, update the winch list in the sticky post.
