A quick reminder to everyone that the LIS disricts this year will be hosted at Cedar Point, as part of the club's Championship Regata on July 9 an 10. As always, we can offer complimentary dockage for anyone who travels to the regatta. The NOR is located at:
http://www.cedarpointyc.org/uploads/2005%20Champ%20Regatta%20Notice%20of%20Race.PDF

This is always fun racing, with windward leewards on floating marks, quick turn arounds between races, and a good dinner on Saturday night.

Any questions can be directed to me at dwl@panix.com

A warning to Cedar Point sailors...

Planxty's foredeck will be at CPYC for the next week competing in the Youth Championships. I'd bet Evan Aras (from BeBop) will also be there. Be good to these kids.

I'm not sure quite how to read that, but CPYC always tries to provide a warm welcome for racers. :-) Now breeze, that's a little harder to promise. If they're feeling homesick, they can wander down C dock, perhaps 9 J/30s will make them feel more at home :-)

The LIS districts were an all Cedar Point affair this year, something we need to work on.

The racing this year was superb, with the weather gods offering up two days of unseasonably good wind. Solid #1 conditions
on Saturday, building to 20 at the finish of the last race. Sunday brought high teens, #3s and really fast spinnaker rides.

The fleet got 5 races, for a total of 23 1 mile legs. John McArthur showed only one crack, letting Fat City take the first race before racking up four bullets. Fat City and Laser Beam battled for second, with Carl Sherter's Fat City holding on by one point after five races. Dow Jones and Blue Jacket dueled it out for fourth, with Dow Jones finishing ahead by 1 point.

Racing was very tight, with agressively contested roundings, a very tight pack at the windward mark (Even after the second lap) and hard fought (and fast) spinnaker legs.

We ended the series with quite a collection of dinged gear. We detonated an end on our Spinnaker pole and cracked a weld on our bow pulpit. Laser Beam tore the boom vang tang weld off their mast, Dow Jones blew up the outhaul, blew up a block in their mainsheet, and cracked a weld in their pulpit. Bad Dog tried very hard to pry the cage covering their deck light off the mast. Several spinnakers, were seen headed off to the sailmakers for quick patches.

I think Carl summed it up best "If you didn't like that, you don't like racing!"
